Introduction | What is CrossFit | Why Choose Us | Getting Started
…Before we get started talking about what CrossFit is, and why we think it’s the right choice for you and your fitness, regardless of your background or current level of fitness, there’s something you should know.
You can do this. Yes, you.
CrossFit Relentless serves hundreds of clients, from all walks of life. College kids to Physicians. Police, Office workers, Firefighters, Teachers…you name it. Ages 5 to 65. Our clients come to us in every conceivable state of fitness, from elite-level athletes to middle-aged folks who haven’t exercised since they were in high school. And our CrossFit programming works for all of them.
What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.
The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.
The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.

“Yeah, that’s great and all, but is CrossFit Relentless right for me?”
Why CFR? There are a number of things to consider when choosing a gym/coach. From local globogyms to other Crossfit gyms there are lots of choices. Here are a few points that we feel are worth your consideration.
1. CrossFit methodology. CrossFit is the world’s best system to create your best possible fitness level — bar none. It sounds boastful but it’s true.
2. How often can you get to class? We offer 7 classes daily, Mon-Friday, and 2 classes each on Saturday & Sunday. This means you do not need to fit into our schedule..we offer enough classes to fit into yours.
3. How knowledgeable are the coaches? If you’re training with a coach who is not Crossfit certified you are already paying too much, and working with what we consider to be “substandard training methods.” If you are considering any CrossFit gym then you should check out what certifications the coaches have. As head coaches, Glenn and Merle have over 40 years together in the fitness industry and each hold over 10 different CrossFit certifications. They continuously go out and seek new methods/info on athletic training both in and outside the CrossFit world.
4. How many coaches per class? We typically use 2 coaches per class every night of the week and a couple days in the morning. More coaches equals more individualized attention for you.
5. Equipment selection and quantity. CFR is the largest CrossFit gym in the state and has more equipment than you need to be fit. You won’t find a bigger or better equipped CrossFit gym anywhere in Connecticut, and you’d be hard-pressed to find one anywhere else in the world.
6. Ask a member of the gym. If you don’t know any of our gym’s members, watch this excellent video that was put together by CrossFit’s national Headquarters, about CrossFit Relentless:
CFR is a special place. We work together and play together — and it’s the community that makes our gym special.
1. The first step is contacting us to set up an appointment to come in and take a look around. We can explain how CrossFt works and how it can help you reach your goals. We can take time to answer any question you may have as well. Emails are always answered promptly and always within 24 hours.
2. All potential new members are allowed to take the first class with us for free. It’s always good to kick the tires before you buy the car.
3. Once you have spoken with us or have tried a class and would like to join our gym, you have the option of doing group classes (99. 9% of our members do this) or 1 on 1 private training.
4. Our coaches will guide you through the learning process and scale the workouts appropriately based on your individual needs and fitness level. You do not need and are not expected to keep up with the athletes who have already been training with us for some time. As your fitness levels increase the level of difficulty increases — as do the skill sets you acquire. Watch the following video to see what we mean.

5. At CFR we believe accessibility is key. There are a lot of places to go to CrossFit but none of them offer the array of class times 7 days a week that CFR provides. We also allow you to come to any class time that fits your schedule. All this means you have the greatest accessibility to get your CrossFit workout done.
Got any other questions? We’d love to hear from you.
